Itinanggi ni Senate Minority Leader Vicente “Tito” Sotto III nitong Martes ang alegasyong pinayagan niyang makapasok sa Senado ang mga ahente ng National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) nitong Lunes para arestuhin si Senador Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa. Giit niya, hindi niya alam na darating sa kapulungan ang huli.

"In the morning kahapon, a representative of NBI came to me and said they have warrant of arrest. Sabi ko coordinate with OSAA [Office of the Sergeant-At-Arms], eh sino ba mag-aakalang darating siya (Dela Rosa)?" sabi ni Sotto sa mga mamamahayag nitong Martes.

"Alam ko may warrant sila pero I didn't know that Senator Dela Rosa is coming. So what kung may warrant sila? Malay ko ba na dadating siya," dagdag ni Sotto.

Sa sesyon ng Senado nitong Martes, gumawa ng manifestation si Sotto sa plenaryo upang tuldukan na ang isyu.

Binasa naman ni Cayetano ang pormal na liham mula sa nagbitiw na Senate Sergeant-at-Arms na si Rene Samonte na nagdedetalye ng insidenteng naganap sa Senado nitong Lunes.

"Earlier this morning, NBI NCR Chief, Atty. DongaIa paid a call to the undersigned to coordinate an arrest order. As per agreement, the supposedly arrest should be effected when the warrant of arrest is presented as per guidance of the former Senate President Vicente C. Sotto III," saad sa sulat.

"On or about 2 p.m., the warrant of arrest was shown to the former Senate President in the presence of the undersigned, but copies were not allowed to be distributed," dagdag nito.

Una rito, sinabi ni Dela Rosa na “I felt betrayed" sa nangyaring insidente.

"Hindi ako makikipagplastikan. I feel betrayed sa ginawa n'ya na 'yun. Nirerespeto ko siya kahit magkaibang kampo kami. Sa ginawa niyang 'yun, malungkot lang ako pero di ako galit," ayon kay Dela Rosa.

Nang tanungin si Sotto kung hihingi ba siya ng paumanhin, tugon niya: "Why? I didn't do anything wrong. Wala naman akong obstruction of justice, wala rin akong ginawang masama sa kanya."

"How will I know that he is coming after months of absence to unseat a seating Senate president?," sabi pa ni Sotto.

"Kalokohan 'yun. Pinapasok nga ang CIDG in the morning. Andyan nag-issue ng subpoena. They are misinformed hayaan mo na mga ganyan ‘di na pinapatulan," dagdag niya.

Matapos na hindi pumasok sa Senado sa nakaraang anim na buwan, dumating sa kapulungan si Dela Rosa nitong Lunes, at bumoto para mapatalsik si Sotto bilang Senate President at inihalal si Alan Cayetano bilang bagong lider ng mayorya.

Ang sinasabing arrest warrant ay galing sa International Criminal Court kaugnay sa papel niya bilang dating PNP chief ng administrasyong Duterte nang ipatupad ang war on drugs na marami ang nasawi.— Sundy Locus/FRJ GMA News
