Ibinasura ng Department of Justice nitong Biyernes ang reklamong rape at attempted rape na isinampa ng model-stylist na si Deniece Cornejo laban sa television host-actor na si Vhong Navarro.
Sa inilabas na resolusyon ng DOJ kaugnay sa pagrepaso sa reklamo, lumitaw na walang sapat na basehan para iakyat ito sa korte.
"To be sure, the voluminous records of this case was scrutinized vis-à-vis the original resolution finding probable cause. However, such thorough scrutiny has failed to make us engender a well-founded belief that the rape and attempted rape described by the complainant actually happened," saad sa resolusyon na nilagdaan ni OIC Prosecutor General Severino Gaña Jr.
Una rito, inakusahan ni Deniece si Vhong ng pang-aabuso noong January 17, 2004. At naulit umano noong January 22, ang araw na nabugbog ang aktor ng grupo ng negosyanteng si Cedric Lee.
Ayon kay Cedric, binugbog nila si Vhong dahil naaktuhan nilang hinahalay si Deniece.
Pero mariing pinabulaanan ni Vhong ang alegasyon at nagsampa siya ng hiwalay na mga reklamo sa Taguig City court ng pananakit, serious illegal detention at grave coercion laban kina Deniece, Cebric at mga kasama nito. -- FRJ, GMA News
