Pumanaw na ang dating senador na si Tessie Aquino-Oreta, ayon sa kaniyang anak na si Malabon Mayor Antolin "Lenlen" Oreta.
Sa Facebook post ni Mayor Oreta, inihayag niya na pumanaw ang kaniyang ina dakong 10:48 p.m. nitong Huwebes, May 14.
Inilarawan ni Mayor Oreta ang dating mambabatas bilang "public servant who devoted her life to the country and her adopted hometown of Malabon."
"She was a loving grandmother, mother, and wife and a friend to those whose lives she touched," anang alkalde. "We ask for your prayers for mom. Thank you."
Nagdadalamhati rin si Senate President Vicente Sotto III sa pagpanaw ni Oreta.
"My family and I are so saddened by her demise. She was very close to me and [former senator and incumbent DICT] Secretary Greg [Honasan]," sabi ni Sotto sa ipinadalang mensahe sa mga mamamahayag.
"Truly a staunch supporter of education for the masses and women empowerment, she was like a sister to me and Greg. Her work ethics are excellent," dagdag niya.
Matinding kalungkutan din umano ang naramdaman ng kaniyang maybahay na si Helen Gamboa.
"Helen, being a relative of theirs is devastated by her passing away. She has not stopped crying since we were told the news last night," ayon kay Sotto.
Patuloy niya, "There were many funny anecdotes with her which we can share perhaps in the future, especially the times when the three of us were the Campaign Management Team of FPJ [Fernando Poe Jr.] in 2004. We will miss her terribly."
Si Oreta ay dating kongresista ng Malabon-Navotas bago naging senador.
