Itinanggi ng kampo ni Adam "Randy" Lawyer, asawa ni Melanie Marquez, ang mga alegasyon ng pang-aabuso umano niya sa dating beauty queen.

Sa episode ng “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda” nitong Martes, binasa ni Tito Boy ang bahagi ng pahayag ng kampo ni Adam, na ipinadala sa programa sa pamamagitan ng e-mail.

"Our client, Mr. Adam Lawyer, categorically denies with strongest terms the allegations thrown against him. Ms. Melanie has always been engaged in ostentatiously accusing Mr. Lawyer of abuse, but all of which were found to be baseless or unfounded by the proper forum. This is nothing but an act of harassment suffered by our client; an act of defamation on the part of Ms. Melanie," sabi ni Atty. Jecko G. Bello.

Sa isang pahayag na pinirmahan ng mga Attorney na sina Mitzell Arthur R. Magdaong at Isabel Perfetua P. Doctolero, sinabi ng kampo ni Adam na si Melanie ay may "notorious history" ng paggawa ng mga pahayag laban kay Adam.

"Ms. Marquez has a notorious history of hurling ostentatious, fabricated claims of abuse at Mr. Lawyer—every single one previously investigated and dismissed as baseless and unfounded by the appropriate authority/ies and forum/a," saad sa pahayag.

Ayon pa sa kampo ni Lawyer, ang insidenteng binanggit ni Melanie sa kaniyang guesting sa Fast Talk with Boy Abunda, na dati na niyang isinampa laban kay Adam, ay ibinasura na umano ng Office of the City Prosecutor ng Makati, at hindi na natuloy sa korte.

"This latest stunt is nothing short of malicious harassment, designed to inflict severe reputational damage, emotional distress, and professional harm on our client… Mr. Lawyer will address the particularities of Ms. Marquez's accusations against him before the Bureau of Immigration, the proper forum," saad pa sa pahayag.

Sa episode ng talk show nitong Lunes, inihayag ni Melanie na nais niyang makansela ang visa ng kaniyang asawa at ma-blacklist ito sa Pilipinas dahil sa pang-aabuso umano nito sa kaniya.

Ayon sa beauty queen, kinakailangan ito upang protektahan ang kaniyang sarili at iba pa, at nagbanggit pa siya ng ibang insidente ng pagmamaltrato umano.

Ikinasal sina Melanie at Randy noong 2000. May dalawa silang anak, sina Abraham at Adam.
