May alok na scholarship program sa mga kuwalipikadong Pilipino ang Saudi Arabia at New Zealand na nais mag-aral sa kani-kanilang bansa. Ang Saudi, sasagutin pati ang pamasahe sa eroplano ng mga estudyante at may allowance din.

Sa ulat ni Chino Gaston sa GMA News "24 Oras" nitong Miyerkules, sinabing 265 na kuwalipikadong Pilipino ang maaaring mag-apply para sa Study in Saudi Program o nais mag-aral ng Arabic o ano mang undergraduate o graduate degrees.

Sa naturang programa, bukod sa libre ang tuition, libre rin ang plane tickets sa pagpunta at pag-uwi ng estudyante, sagot din ang kanilang titirhan at may panggastos pa o allowance.

Layunin ng programa na tumulong sa mga Pilipinong mag-aaral at palawakin ang kaalaman tungkol sa kultura, ekonomiya at buhay sa Saudi Arabia.

“The relationship between Saudi Arabia and the Philippines is not confined to the realm of diplomacy — it is a relationship deeply rooted in cultural and scientific cooperation, and a legacy of civilizational exchange spanning decades,” pahayag ni Ambassador-Designate Faisal Ebraheem Alghamdi sa talumpati nito sa paglulunsod ng programa ngayong taon sa Makati City.

“These scholarships, therefore, serve as a strong bridge between the youth of our two nations, strengthening cultural and intellectual ties and reaffirming the Kingdom’s commitment to supporting education in friendly countries,” dagdag niya.

Bukas ang scholarships sa mga aplikante sa may edad 17 at 25 para sa bachelor’s degree at Diploma in Arabic Studies, at mga edad 35 pababa para sa doctorate program.

“These opportunities will enable Filipino students to join prestigious Saudi universities, where they will study alongside peers from around the world in academic environments that seamlessly blend tradition and innovation — offering an enriching educational experience unlike any other,” sabi pa ni Ambassador-Designate Alghamdi.

Kabilang sa mga posibleng majors ay politics, law, education, business administration, economics, engineering and natural sciences, computer science, agriculture, Shariah and Arabic, at media. Ang mga Theory-based majors ay ituturo sa Arabic language, habang sa English naman ang practical-based majors.

Mahigit 800 estudyante umano ang pinag-aaral ng pamahalaan ng Saudi sa ilalim ng kanilang scholarship program.

“We look forward to seeing many enthusiastic and talented Filipino applicants, and we hope these scholarships mark a new chapter in strengthening the academic and cultural bonds between our two nations,” saad ni Ambassador-Designate Alghamdi.

“The Embassy of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in Manila remains fully committed to providing all necessary support and facilitation to ensure the success of prospective students on their educational journey,” dagdag niya.
