Naglabas ang Second Division ng Sandiganbayan ng kautusan para sa 90-araw na preventive suspension laban kay Senador Jinggoy Estrada dahil sa nakabinbin niyang kasong graft na may kaugnayan sa pagkakasangkot umano niya sa flood control projects scandal.
Inilabas ng anti-graft court ang suspension order sa pamamagitan ng isang resolusyon na may petsang Hunyo 16.
"Today, the Second Division of the Sandiganbayan ordered the Preventive Suspension of Senator Jose 'Jinggoy' Pimentel Ejercito Estrada in connection with Criminal Case No. E-SB26CRM0004 for Violation of Sec. 3(e), R.A. 3019, as amended," saad sa pahayag ng Sandiganbayan.
"Accordingly, in view of the foregoing, this Court hereby orders the suspension pendente lite of accused Senator Jose 'Jinggoy' P. Ejercito Estrada from his present position as Senator of the Republic of the Philippines, and from any other public office which he may now or hereafter be holding for a period of 90 days from receipt of this Resolution, which will take effect upon the finality of this Resolution," dagdag ng anti-graft court.
Bukod sa kasong graft, nahaharap din si Estrada sa magkahiwalay na mga kaso ng pandarambong (plunder) at graft sa Ikalimang Dibisyon ng Sandiganbayan, na may kaugnayan din sa flood control projects.
Maliban pa rito, mayroon pang 11 kaso ng graft na nakabinbin laban kay Estrada na may kaugnayan naman sa umano’y maling paggamit sa kaniyang discretionary Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF), na nakabinbin mula pa noong 2014. -- LLANESCA T. PANTI GMA News
