Inilahad ng International Criminal Court (ICC) Office of the Prosecutor nitong Martes na ikinalulugod nito ang desisyon ng Pre-Trial Chamber I na buksan ang warrant of arrest laban kay Senador Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa.
“Mr. Dela Rosa’s warrant of arrest is an important step in the Office’s ongoing pursuit of accountability for alleged crimes committed in the context of the so-called ‘war on drugs’ campaign in the Philippines,” ayon sa Prosekusyon sa isang pahayag.
Ayon sa Prosekusyon, inilabas ang warrant bilang isang sikreto noong Nobyembre 6, 2025 at ipinarating na sa mga kinauukulang awtoridad sa bansa.
Sinabi nitong nakitaan ng Chamber ng makatwirang batayan na responsable si Dela Rosa, kasama ang dating Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte at iba pang mga kasabwat, sa mga pagpatay sa bansa mula Hulyo 2016 hanggang Abril 2018.
“Based on evidence presented by the OTP, the Chamber found there are reasonable grounds to believe that Mr. Dela Rosa, a former Davao City Police Director and subsequently chief of the Philippine National Police, is responsible for the crime against humanity of murder (article 7(1)(a) of the Rome Statute), through his involvement in a common plan that lasted from approximately 1 November 2011 until 16 March 2019 to kill alleged victims in the Philippines,” sabi ng Prosekusyon.
Dagdag pa ng Prosekusyon na idiniin ng Chamber na isang halimbawa ang mga pagpatay na nagrerepresenta sa isang potensiyal na mas malawak na padron.
Samantala, nanawagan ang Prosekusyon sa mga direktang saksi sa mga krimen umano noong panahon ng drug war, lalo na ang mga dati at kasalukuyang miyembro ng PNP, na lumantad at magbigay ng impormasyon.
Noong Lunes, hinabol ng mga ahente ng National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) na may kopya ng warrant ng ICC si Dela Rosa sa loob ng gusali ng Senado.
